Initial Consultation

90 minutes

  • This is your opportunity to further assess our suitability as a meaningful partner in your mental wellness journey

  • We will obtain a "cliff notes version" of your life story, including a focused review of your social and health history, motivating factors for, and goals of treatment

  • We will share our initial impressions related to your concerns and any applicable diagnoses based on The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders published by The American Psychiatric Association

  • We will offer recommendations based on current scientific evidence and expert opinion

  • You will engage with us in reviewing these recommendations and developing an action plan that is suited to your needs

Initial Consultation, Prolonged

120 minutes

  • A complex mental health history would require additional time for consultation

  • Some children may require a prolonged consultation to allow appropriate time to explore concerns from multiple sources including family, school, and referring physician

  • If you are in crisis at your first visit, an Initial Consultation and Crisis Management Plan would be needed

  • In some circumstances, the nature of the crisis warrants an immediate safety assessment and plan. In such a situation, the initial consultation can be deferred to a later time to address the imminent risk

  • Some people prefer a longer visit to engage with us and validate the potential for a meaningful partnership

Routine Follow-up Visit

30 minutes

  • This provides a dedicated time to review how the implementation of the action plan is progressing

  • You give feedback on the outcome of these strategies and we explore how they can be altered for improved results

  • We use this time to continue building on our relationship as we learn more about who you are so we can better guide you to your desired outcomes

Basic Follow-up Visit

20 minutes

  • The primary focus is on mental health maintenance when the implemented action plan has produced desired and sustained results

  • We work with you to explore other directions that can complement your wellness

  • We continue to build our relationship

Extended Follow-up Visit

40 minutes

  • If you have an extensive history that could not be adequately reviewed during Initial Consultation

  • If you choose to include significant persons like family, close friends, teachers, etc. to provide information necessary to clarify diagnoses and improve the action plan

  • If your current life circumstances require additional time to explore in order to understand the impact on your mental health

Complex Follow-up Visit

60 minutes

  • A major change in circumstances or wellbeing could require extra time for assessment and formulation of an action plan in order to manage or prevent a crisis

  • If you are in crisis and need an urgent follow-up visit, this length of visit allows appropriate time for a comprehensive assessment

  • Although brief psychotherapy (also known as "talk therapy") is included in every visit, additional time to engage in talk therapy can be immensely beneficial, requiring a longer follow-up visit
